Forum Concerning Disability Rights Raises ‘Discrimination’

Cambodian Disabled People’s Organisation – CDPO celebrated a main forum which addressed the most important of the discriminations is about ‘Discrimination on People with Disabilities’. This forum highly presided over by H.E Ith Samheng Minister of MoSVY. This was joined by stakeholders working in disability sectors and DPOs.

Government is trying to develop our country through implementing rectangle strategy in order to all people obtain their living rights equally whether they are disabled persons or non-disabled persons, H.E Ith Samheng said.

MoSVY is a secretary of Cambodian Government on the disability issues and rehabilitations will continue to promote and respect the rights of PWDs in communities. Based on the policy and rectangle strategy of government and Millennium Goal of Disabled Persons 2003-2012, MoSVY works actively in promoting health care and standard living of disabled persons until now.

The eliminated discriminations on PWDs reduce the poverty of PWDs and their family and contribute in developing country as well. The discriminations, education services, and inclusive disabled persons in the development programs are all our duty. MoSVY, ministries, stakeholders are cooperated to solve the PWDs’ issues. Also PWDs should try to get knowledge with the capacities acknowledged by the society.

MoSVY committed highly to promote the PWDs to obtain their right equally and fully in getting other services and asked for NGOs, INGOs, stakeholders and governments to assist PWDs. Especially, PWD should  be provided the opportunity and the participation with equality and effectiveness as stated in National Constitution target to PWDs have a bright future as non-disabled persons.
